In this quick video, we’ll show you how to check the head float on your Polaris 280 pool cleaner. If your pool cleaner is laying on its side when running, then there’s an easy way to check this.
Like most of our mechanical devices, your pool cleaner will require periodic adjustments, routine maintenance, and the replacement of certain parts. For anyone that has one of these cleaners you probably already know what a workhorse it is.
We run ours twice a day and it does an excellent job of keeping much of the debris picked up. Depending on the size of your pool and surrounding conditions, you should adjust your pool cleaner accordingly.

I just bought a new pressure relief valve and there’s too much pressure that’s it’s making the pool cloudy from the pressure because of the air it’s making. I remember my pool guy removing something out of the valve to relieve the presssure but I can’t reach him. Do you have any suggestions
Where the connection to the wall is, there may be a restrictor plate. Red or blue on most pools. Those can be changed. Also on the pressure relief valve, it can be adjusted by turning the nut in or out to change the flow. I’m curious if you have a DE filter. I’ve seen the pool get cloudy when a grid in the filter is leaking or damaged. Hope this helps.

Another video shows the filter installed the opposite, with the open face outward. What documentation did you reference to consider the above the correct orientation?
I've actually tried them both ways and it doesn't seem to matter. The only manual we have doesn't really address filter orientation either. I'd love to hear from the people that designed it to see what they say.
Does water typically leak from around that area or no? I noticed today that it sprays water ok but a steady leak underneath the jet.
You may need a thrust jet kit. I think they have a small o-ring or gasket inside the back of the nozzle. Pull the two screws out and check this. Hope this helps.

Piece of junk fridge just broke tabs trying with all my might and 2 screwdrivers to release the shelf from the water filter housing the broke the other 2 tabs trying to release the glass from the shelf but at least it will be easier next time 😂

Even though the pipe is threaded, the float is not. They just push on and pull off. It’s worth checking often.

I remove the two screws and the jet, then put silicone grease on the o-ring and the nozzle ball to allow easier adjustment.

Just want to add that the side door bins have to be removed for the shelf to fit in and out. You might have mentioned it. I still broke one of the clips you press on simultaneously. But, I was able to wedge a screwdriver on each side at the bottom of the assembly and it popped up. Just in case anyone runs into this issue…

I always try to do the math in my head. It's 2 multiplied by the degrees in Celsius, plus 30 degrees, and you get your cheap version of how warm/cold it is in fahrenheit. Thank you for this information! The actual mathematical equation for Celsius to fahrenheit I believe is... °F=9/5(°C)+32

Hey Donn reallly appreciate the video. The high pressure line for mine keeps falling off after about 15min of usage. Any tips on how to clamp it tighter?
If it attaches like the one in this video, you might try trimming is short piece of the hose off provided you have enough. Then reattach with a new nut. If that doesn’t work, you might check if you have a restrictor disc at the wall connector. If not, you might consider adding one.

Ugh not so amazing warranty for me I’m afraid…..FISKARS wants me to ship back a $20 item which would cost me at least $10 to mail..Would have been nice to have them offer a free return label to a 20 year customer, but no, they’d rather stiff the people who helped get them where they are. I tried to appeal asking for a goodwill replacement. No dice and no sympathetic response…..just basically return it and we’ll see. fiskars…..be sure to look for all my negative reviews wherever I can post them.
